Our journey with Our Training Department (OTD) commenced at the UK Black Business Show last year, where we had the honour of meeting Chris Cummins, the joint managing director of OTD.

Following collaborative discussions and pitching the project to the wider team, we were entrusted with the task of developing OTD's new app, a testament to our shared vision for technological innovation in enhancing user experiences.

The freshly launched OTD learner pathway app stands as a cutting-edge educational resource, meticulously crafted with an array of features to elevate the learning journey.

Among its core functions lie the capability to upload assignments, partake in interactive quizzes, provide session feedback, engage in chat forums, and craft personalised action plans.

Additionally, it offers a user-friendly web admin interface for tracking individual progress and managing programs seamlessly.

Reflecting on our encounter at the UK Black Business Show, John Akpenyi, our co-founder and chief technology officer, shared: “The UK Black Business Show was a great way of making different types of connections. We had already created two apps and took them to the exhibition, but we didn’t really know what to expect.

“We then met Chris Cummins who explained he was looking for an app developer and invited us in to discuss the concept further.

“It was clear that OTD wanted to embrace technology as a way to centralise and streamline the user journey - and ultimately deliver a better experience for its customers.”

The OTD learner pathway app was swiftly brought to life by our team in under 10 weeks, receiving resounding praise from OTD employees.

Already, the app has played a pivotal role in supporting OTD’s launch of a new EDI program, benefiting over 150 global associate business coaches.

Looking ahead, Brandonlee Brown, our commercial, marketing, and operational lead, expresses our commitment to nurturing a long-term partnership with OTD, fuelled by innovation.

He states: “This isn’t a one-off project, we are working closely with OTD to become the company’s main innovation partner and have also received mentoring from Chris Cummins who has helped to steer us in the right direction.

“OTD has so many ideas about how learners can access and absorb content. We are helping to translate that creativity into solutions that can truly benefit their customers and allow people to experience learning wherever they are.”
